Pitcher Todd Marinovich was taken by the California Angels in the 43rd round of the 1988 amateur draft but did not sign. He went on to USC, where he would succeed Rodney Peete at quarterback; Peete had also been drafted in 1988 by a MLB team. After college, he was a 1st-round draft pick...in the NFL as a quarterback. He struggled in two years with the Los Angeles Raiders, throwing more interceptions than touchdowns. His life has been plagued by numerous legal problems, primarily for drugs, but he also has been arrested for sexual assault.
