[edit] Biographical Information
Tobi Stoner was born in Landstuhl, Germany, near the air force base where his father was stationed. When he made his major league debut with the New York Mets in 2009, he became the 29th German-born major leaguer, and the first since Mickey Scott in 1972.
Stoner was discovered by accident during a game when he struck out 15 batters; scout Matt Wondolowski had attended the game to scout his opponent on the mound. He was drafted by the Mets in the 16th round of the 2006 amateur draft.
