Tiny Osborne was given the name because he was 6 ' 4 " tall and 215 lbs. He pitched 142 games in four seasons in the majors during the lively ball era.

Osborne's son, Ernest Osborne, was signed as a first baseman by the New Bern Bears in 1939 [1]. His other son, Bobo Osborne played in the majors for six seasons, primarily for the Detroit Tigers.
