Tim Jones pitched 10 innings in the major leagues without giving up a run. He allowed only 4 hits and 3 walks. After doing so well with the 1977 Pittsburgh Pirates, he was traded at the end of spring training in 1978 to the Montreal Expos, with whom he never appeared in the majors.

With the Columbus Clippers in 1977, he had gone 15-6.
