Tim Esmay was a college coach.

Esmay played at Arizona State University in 1986-1987, hitting .305 and playing in the 1987 College World Series. He was an assistant at ASU from 1988-1990 then coached for Brophy College Prep in 1992-1993. He returned to ASU as an assistant in 1994, then was an assistant at Grand Canyon University (1996) and at the University of Utah (1996).

In 1997, Esmay became head coach at Utah. He was 213-235-1 in 8 seasons through 2004. He was named Western Athletic Conference Coach of the Year in 1997.

Tim then became the assistant coach at ASU for the third time, serving in that role from 2005-2009. The team made the College World Series three times in that period. In 2010, he became the 4th head coach at ASU in a 51-year period, following Pat Murphy, Jim Brock and Bobby Winkles. His first year, the team went 52-10 and entered the 2010 College World Series ranked #1 in the nation but went out in two games.

Esmay resigned after the 2014 season from ASU.
