Minor League pitcher Thomas "Shaky" Kain was a rather successful minor league manager. In six seasons as a manager, he made the playoffs all six years, made the finals five times, and won three championships.
Kain scouted for the New York Yankees (1947-1948), Pittsburgh Pirates (1949-1951), Philadelphia Phillies (1956-1959), and Chicago Cubs (1960-1968).
Away from the diamond, Kain was a Southeastern Conference football referee for 28 years.
