The Stratton Story is a 1949 film chronicling the remarkable comeback of pitcher Monty Stratton, who lost a leg in a hunting accident. James Stewart portrays Stratton, and Gene Bearden, Bill Dickey, Merv Shea, and Jimmie Dykes all appear in the movie as themselves.
