From BR Bullpen
The The Sporting News Reliever of the Year Award is an award given out by The Sporting News. It was first handed out in 1960 as the The Sporting News Fireman of the Year. The award was given annually the best closer in each league judged by TSN baseball experts. In 2001 the award eligibility was broadened to include all relievers and its name was changed to The Sporting News Reliever of the Year.
