The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette was formed when the Pittsburgh Post and Pittsburgh Gazette merged. It later absorbed many writers from the Pittsburgh Press when that paper folded after a 1994 strike. It is the largest newspaper in Pittsburgh, PA.
Several players who have been drafted or played professional baseball have been named Male High School Athlete of the Year by the Post-Gazette since the award was first given out in 1979: Dan Marino (1979), Paul Failla (1991), Neil Walker (2003-2004) and Adam DiMichele (2003-2004).
