Terence Mann

"Go the distance" This phrase is what writer Terence Mann heard at Fenway Park while with Ray Kinsella in the movie version of "Field of Dreams". Mann (played by James Earl Jones) and Kinsella (played by Kevin Costner) then journeyed across the country to find Archibald "Moonlight" Graham and entered baseball mythology forever. The character is based on writer J.D. Salinger. In the book version the character is actually Salinger, but the writer would not give permission for his name to be used in the movie.
