Teo Gutierrez signed with the Arizona Diamondbacks in 2008. He split 2008 between the DSL Diamondbacks (0-1, Sv, 5.23) and the DSL Diamondbacks/Reds (2-7, 3.55). In 2009, he was 4-6 with a 3.53 ERA for the DSL Diamondbacks, walking only 12 in 81 2/3 innings but throwing 17 wild pitches.
Gutierrez had drastically different outcomes for the two clubs he appeared with in 2010 - 2-0, 0.47 in four starts for the Yakima Bears and a 6.97 ERA in 11 games in relief for the Missoula Osprey. He then joined the Colombian national team for the 2010 Pan American Games Qualification Tournament.
