Ted Cather broke into the majors with a notable cup of coffee with the St. Louis Cardinals in 1912, hitting .421 in 19 at-bats. He had his most major league at-bats in 1914 when he hit .287 (the league average was .251) split among two teams (St. Louis and Boston).
He appeared in only one game of the 1914 World Series, hitting third in that game. Although Cather did not get a hit against pitcher Eddie Plank, it was a low-scoring game that ended 1-0.
