[edit] Biographical Information

Ted Kleinhans pitched 12 seasons in organized ball from 1930 to 1941, three in the Major Leagues and 11 in the minors. He served in the U.S. Army in both World Wars I (BN) and II (GB). He pitched for the Philadelphia Phillies, New York Yankees and Cincinnati Reds.

At the time, he was one of the oldest rookies ever, having broken into organized ball at age 31 and having his Major League debut 12 days after his 35th birthday.

He retired from pitching at age 42. He coached baseball at Syracuse University from 1947 to 1965. He was also commissioner of Parks and Recreation at Syracuse, NY. He died at age 86 and is buried at Serenity Gardens Memorial Park in Largo, FL.
