Based in the border town of Nuevo Laredo in the state of Tamaulipas, the Nuevo Laredo Owls (Tecolotes de Nuevo Laredo in Spanish) were members of the Mexican League occasionally through 1946. They rejoined from 1949 to 1959, winning titles in 1953, 1954 and 1958 in their most successful span ever. They again were Liga members from 1976 through 2000 - they won a pennant in 1977 and in 1989. From 1985 to 2003, the team was know as the Dos Laredos Owls or Tecolotes de los Dos Laredos, as they also represented the city of Laredo, TX, across the Rio Grande River.
