First baseman Taylor Sanford, the brother of Jack Sanford, played minor league baseball from 1934 to 1946, never rising above class B ball.
Sanford coached Wake Forest University from 1951 to 1955. Under his leadership, the Deamon Deacons won the 1955 College World Series.
