Talk:Wally Shannon
From BR Bullpen
We should have a separate page for Wally Sr. I think. I have his minor league stops from 1922-1932. - --Mischa 12:27, 18 January 2008 (EST)
I got that from the executive database at Baseball America. (I lost the link to it though - computer crash). Which part belongs to Sr. and which to Jr. ? --Jeff 12:35, 18 January 2008 (EST)
The anonymous entry added gives the break. It fits with Wally Jr.'s career certainly. - --Mischa 12:37, 18 January 2008 (EST)
Moved from main page:
Shannon was the farm director for the St. Louis Cardinals in 1961. He was then the scouting director for the Cardinals (1962), Cleveland Indians (1965), Baltimore Orioles (1966-1972), and California Angels (1973-1977). Shannon was then assistant GM of the Milwaukee Brewers from 1978 to 1988, then a special assistant to the GM from 1989 to 1991.
I'm not sure where this information came from. Someone did not do their homework. The record attributed to Wally Shannon actually belongs to his father, Walter G. Shannon. The senior Walter Shannon was an outfielder-second baseman during the 1920's and early 1930's, until 1932. Walter Shannon was a scout and farm director for the Cardinals from at least 1942 until 1962. From there, the record is accurate.
