Talk:Tris Speaker
From BR Bullpen
Speaker and Cobb the two most famous pre-Ruth? What about Honus Wagner and Nap Lajoie? Christy Mathewson? - --Mischa 11:46, 5 September 2006 (EDT)
I understand your point, but I think my comment is accurate historically. Wagner certainly deserves to have been lionized as much, but as you know, nobody who plays in Pittsburgh gets as much attention as he deserves. However, there's really no way to quantify fame, so I've changed "probably" to "quite possibly". Even when I was a kid in the 1950's, a lot of people still argued that Cobb was better than Ruth. And once Cobb was mentioned, Speaker was compared to him. - Randy 13:02 5 September 2006 (EDT)
