Randy, Just me, Mischa take a look at the top 20 HR page and put a block on whoever pulled this kind of thing. the IP is 65. 189. .236 .252--Dugout 19:30, 30 September 2007 (EDT)

[edit] Bonds Image

Just Me: The Bonds Image came from this site. As a baseball card it is considered fair use as long as it is lower resolution and is used to help explain the article it is placed with. Please replace it. --Dugout 20:05, 10 September 2007 (EDT)

Michael Eng: After giving much thought to the discussion on the Top 20 All Time HR Leaders and Statistics Page and obtaining input from persons who watch the page, I believe it fits with what BR Bullpen is striving to do. However, your comments caused me to re-think the way the page is constructed and the way it is operated. I did some revising of the stats that are used to include your suggestions and still make it fit the page. Below you will see a draft of the changes. The only thing I don't like about what I have done is the updating necessary to keep it current. It is not much of a problem for me to keep it up to date, but I am not going to live forever. I like this page but I am not going to get in a dither if the group thinks it is not in the best interest of the Bullpen. I will look for your thoughts on the matter. Thanks,--Dugout 13:10, 25 June 2007 (EDT) DRAFT:

Is this really all that necessary? Nothing links to it. --Jeff 21:58, 19 May 2007 (EDT)

I personally thinks it's redundant with Top_100_Home_Run_Hitters. - --Mischa 13:45, 21 May 2007 (EDT)

This page is more comprehensive as well and doesn't require updating by a person as well. Some of the additional stats (such as RBI , BB, SO) don't really tell much as well. Maybe if the home run numbers were normalized then it might better accomplish its apparent purpose of allowing for the comparison between eras, but that would be original research and wouldn't belong here. Some of the info might be useful on the Top 100 page (years, maybe games and at-bats - although AB could be at HR/AB). I'm going to notify Dugout about this discussion so he can contribute. --MichaelEng (talk) 18:23, 16 June 2007 (EDT)

Briefley, this is a comparison statistic page that allows easy comparison from player to player, stat to stat without trying to navigate the entire site to compare one player to another on any given question. The response to the page has been affirmative, especially in the "easy to find" area. I do not see this as a duplication of any other page in the big picture and find it very easy to handle. I see it as a plus and defend it as such.--Dugout 18:56, 16 June 2007 (EDT)

I have an issue with ties on the list. When there is tie, as there is with McCovey and Williams as well as with Banks and Mathews, I feel as though the player who achieved that number of homers in the least amount of at bats should deserve to be listed ahead of the other which is opposite of what we have at the moment. That should be the tiebreaker in my mind since their accomplishment was "better" in that sense. This may seem to be a picky point, but Manny Ramirez will be joining this list soon and bump one of the two people tied at 20 off the list. I think it should be Banks (the one who took longer to get there). 69.68.238.142 16:04, 30 July 2008 (EDT)
