I'm very encouraged by the steady progression on his Hall of Fame vote total. I think he is now more likely than not to achieve election by the BBWAA, something that looked very difficult after his first year on the ballot. --Philippe 07:16, 10 January 2012 (EST)

I stand by my words of four years ago. He's almost there, and would be a certainty had not the BBWAA decided to shorten his eligibility period by five years. Still there should be a strong public relations push to get him over the top in his final year on the ballot. I should probably start planning a late-July 2017 trip to upstate New York to be there when the moment comes. --Philippe (talk) 11:31, 7 January 2016 (EST)

I personally think Raines should already be in. I think he's hurt by Henderson. Raines was possibly the 2nd best leadoff hitter of all time (if not, he's in that discussion), but because he played at the exact same time as the best leadoff hitter of all time, he gets overlooked. --Jeff (talk) 11:39, 7 January 2016 (EST)
