Talk:Russ Stephans
From BR Bullpen
Why are guys like this not considered Major Leaguers? He got the call every minor leaguer dreams of and was eligible to play in 7 games. Not really his fault he never got into a game. He has 7 days of major league service time, shouldn't that make him a Major Leaguer? Also, is there a place to look up MLB service time? I'm interested in finding more (phantom) Major Leaguers and at least giving them a page in the bullpen. What category is most appropriate (I'm guessing the hard and fast rule is 1 game played to be considered a (MLB) Player), so maybe a new Phantom MLB Player category (or something like that) is needed. These guys deserve some recognition.
Any thoughts? -- Andy
Very interesting. Here's a good one - Bruce Dostal. Called up to the Baltimore. Was told twice that he would pinch run in the 9th for Harold Baines if Baines got on base. Baines made outs in both at bats. One time decent prospect for the Phillies organization. If I have time today I may start on a page.

A phantom player category sounds reasonable. I just did another one of these, Jake Levy. - --Mischa 08:11, 3 January 2007 (EST)
I like the idea of a category for guys on a major league roster who never played. Is Phantom Players the right name for it? --Just me 21:53, 3 January 2007 (EST)
How about "Phantom Major Leaguers" or "Phantom Big Leaguers" (Phantom Players is not really descriptive enough) or does somebody have a better word (or maybe more respectful) to describe a rostered MLB player that doesn't appear in a game than "Phantom"? I'm gonna add Russ Stephans to the Category "Phantom Major Leaguer" but if you have a better name, go ahead and change it to something else. -- Trauty
I like "Phantom Major Leaguers". Good work --Jgperro 03:38, 4 January 2007 (EST)
