  I remember "Monk" Meyer for the wonderful day when he was taken out of a game

by the Phils manager?

  As he was leaving the mound he picked up the resin bag in disgust and tossed it into the air. As he angrily continued toward the dugout the resin bag landed directly on top of his head, causing a white puff of smoke to appear to be coming out of the top of his head-one of the funniest baseball moments in my entire life of watching baseball. His tenure with the Phillies was from 1949-1952.
