Which means we should try to fix a lot of these dead links   jj137 22:10, 26 December 2007 (EST)

Actually, or do something else with it, i.e. rewrite or delete, etc.   jj137 22:11, 26 December 2007 (EST)

They have it as a candidate for deletion, so I might do the same. --Jeff 22:24, 26 December 2007 (EST)

I think it might be a useful article if edited properly. Sports gaming companies and sports games are of note I think and Replay Baseball is one of the more popular dice baseball games. I think it should not be deleted. - --Mischa 09:31, 27 December 2007 (EST)

Among Wikipedia's criteria when considering an article like this for deletion are whether the article is orphaned (has few or no links between it and other articles), and whether it reads more like an ad for a product than an actual encyclopedic article. So . . .
It needs a few links established. I know that a few articles on Negro League players and teams use Replay's NNL yearbook as a source, so they can link, and as a tabletop game hobbyist I think this is a sadly neglected area; this could be one article in a larger category covering the major tabletop games and companies.
I agree the article could take some rewriting, covering more its history and mechanics than it currently does, and listing the basketball and football games as peripheral references (very peripheral -- this is, after all, a baseball wiki).

How about moving this to Replay Baseball as a start, and making the article focus on the game? Right now it does read as an ad. --Jeff 10:35, 27 December 2007 (EST)

Well, my only objection to that is that I just added links from 12+ Negro Leagues articles.  :-) I guess that can be handled by redirection. As for it sounding like an ad, the editor who added it is probably unfamiliar with the rules; it only takes a few changes to correct those things.
Do we have any other articles/stubs on other tabletop games (e.g., APBA or StratOMatic) for examples, either here or on Wikipedia?
--Couillaud 10:44, 27 December 2007 (EST)
We should have articles on APBA, Strat-O-Matic, etc. All I see so far is Tabletop. If we move it to Replay Baseball, no redirects are needed. The issue would be double redirects if it was moved twice. - --Mischa 11:09, 27 December 2007 (EST)

Hello everyone, thank you for the comments. Yes, the article is essentially a copy from Wikipedia, as I'm the author of both. As for it's nomination for deletion on wikipedia, that is currently in dispute, and a couple of those who believed it should be deleted have now changed their minds. :) The article could definitely use work, but I thought I'd post something up here to get a start. A fan on the Replay site directed me to this wiki, and thought it would be a good idea for me to post the article here, where, as he said, it might have a less Philistine reception. :) So, suggestions on how to clean up (yes, agree that football and basketball should be trimmed, how to peripherally note them?), or anything glaring? I tried to avoid an advertorial style, though it can come off as marketing copy when one is trying to describe a game. There are only so many ways to describe the process of rolling dice and looking at charts, hehe. Thanks again, looking forward to comments. Kezzran 18:29, 27 December 2007 (EST)

  • One thing I'd like to add is that none of these links are dead to my knowledge. I compiled them all in the past 3 days, so if they've gone dead it would be news to me. Thanks again! Kezzran 18:30, 27 December 2007 (EST)
    • Corrected one hyperlink, which mistakenly had http:// in it twice, resulting in a broken link. Kezzran 18:56, 27 December 2007 (EST)

I tried to straighten things out and split off Replay Baseball into its own page. Does anyone want to tackle APBA or some of the other classic simulators? - --Mischa 09:20, 28 December 2007 (EST)
