According to The Negro Leagues by Leslie A. Heaphy, they were called the Rosebuds, not the Roses. It was owned by Olympic gold medalist Jesse Owens. They played at the old Vaughn Street Stadium when the Portland Beavers of the pacific Coast League were on the road.
