That February 1980 date is wrong. The Inter-American League folded in June of 1979. Altamirano played for Miami and Oklahoma City in 1979. His 1983 Topps card lists 10-26-79 as the purchase date, but that seems wrong too. --Jeff 11:15, 28 September 2008 (EDT)

I'm guessing he was purchased as soon as the IAL folded. I can't find any clarification in the transactions listing in the 1980 Baseball Guide. - --Mischa 11:23, 28 September 2008 (EDT)

It's possible that he went to Oklahoma City after the IAL folded, but that the transaction was not formalized until the league's assets were liquidated a few months later. --Philippe 18:49, 6 August 2009 (EDT)
