Talk:Pittsburgh, PA
From BR Bullpen
OK Misha, I'm having some trouble following the logic of the cities & the teams that played in them listings. LOL. My test for listing the Grays in Pittsburgh & Homestead was the Twins being listed in both Minneapolis and Bloomington for their pre-dome years. Since the Twins got duel listings -- and since the Grays and their rivalry with the Crawfords is part of Pittsburgh lore, it seemed that some might go there looking for each of those teams -- the duel listing for the Grays seemed appropriate.
All of which isn't to say that the way it 'has' to be.
But, the Grays absolutely played their home games in the city of Pittsburgh -- at Greenlee Field on Bedford Ave. in the Hill district from 1932-1938, and then at Forbes Field in 1939 before packing up and heading to Washington.

I think teams were generally placed in the "city" they were named for, though there have been precedents for listing teams under where their actual stadium is located. I am okay with listing both, but hadn't realized that the Grays did not play in Homestead proper. I'll revert my revert on Pittsburgh, PA. - --Mischa 12:42, 23 April 2007 (EDT)
Just to add my own 2c, given I wrote most of the "teams that played here" pages: in case like this, where a team is named after one city, but is also associated with a second city for a reason or another, I have listed them under both. There is no reason why a team should be listed in only one place. --Philippe 10:28, 24 April 2007 (EDT)
