Talk:Phil Todt
From BR Bullpen
Point of note on the biographical info on Todt: It was reported at the time that it was Landis' first decision as commissioner. Also, he didn't make him a free agent, but said Todt belonged the Browns (minor league teams Sherman and Houston also staked a claim). Also, this occurred in 1921 (Feb. 22), not 1920. The matter had been pending for nearly a year (March 1920). What happened was Todt was property of the Cardinals, which sent him to Sherman in 1917. Todt didn't report and the league went under at midseason. Todt said the Sherman team didn't notify him of his status or transfer to a different club (Houston), thus he was free to sign with the Browns. the_heller 21:23, 26 December 2008 (EST)
