Pat Jordan wrote the best book I ever read about being a minor league ballplayer back in the late 1950s -- "A False Spring." I also was a minor leaguer in the '50s. His memoir rings very true. This book will be of particular interest to pitchers, as he describes what it was like, emotionally and physically, growing up as always being the star pitcher as a child and teen-ager and then entering professional baseball as a big-time "bonus baby." His writing is right on the mark, and this book is considered a baseball classic now. ----- Pitcher53
