Otis Thornton was the Houston Astros' 68th Round Draft pick in the initial 1965 Amateur Draft. B-R lists him as signed as an amateur free agent. If you look him up on the Baseball Cube, you will see him listed as BOTH the Astros 1965 68th Round pick AND signed as a free agent by the Astros in 1965.
They can't both be right. What's the story here?
This page, says Thornton was also drafted in the first Free Agent Draft by the Astros too, so I assume he was drafted too. - --Jbroks86 1:58 AM 7/9/06 (EDT)
That page says 65th round pick in 65. Sounds like somebody got confused by the coincidence and assumed he was a free agent instead of being drafted. --Just me 10:50, 9 July 2006 (EDT)
