Should this page cover the pre professional leagues? See this page at wikipedia? --MichaelEng 14:17, 16 August 2006 (EDT)

I see no reason not to add a sentence or two, but let's not make a big deal of it. The National Association was a pretty amateurish thing in 1871-75, and what existed prior to 1871 was not even that sophisticated. - Randy 14:22 16 August 2006 (EDT)

I think that the NABBP should cover the 1857-1870 pre-professional association. It's important to separate the National Association of Base Ball Players from the National Association of Professional Base Ball Players. Having one redirect to the other is as wrong as having the NAPBBP page point to the NL. --Roger 15:25, 16 August 2006 (EDT)

Roger's right, there was a big push not to go professional before 1871. So the redirect to National Association of Professional Base Ball Players is wrong. The National Association of Base Ball Players was a governing body for amateur baseball. --Just me 21:23, 16 August 2006 (EDT)
