Talk:Moonlight Graham
From BR Bullpen
During the most recent (September 2005) showing of Field of Dreams on AMC, the trvia factoid on Moonlight stated that contrary to the movie, Moonlight did have a single at bat during his one game and that he hit a sacrifice fly. In the movie they have Moonlight hit a sacrifice fly that plated the runner from third but if that was true then he would have had an RBI. Does anyone know the facts?
Graham did not bat in his only appearance (7/29/05). I think the movie also states Graham appeared in his single game in 1922. --Scott 23:42, 28 Sep 2005 (EDT)
Does anyone know the origin of his nickname "Moonlight"?
[edit] Origin of nickname
What is the origin of his nickname "Moonlight"?
This is from SABR: "Although some newspaper accounts said that Graham got the nickname "Moonlight" because of his speed, it has been suggested by Mike Rappaport that when Graham was in the minors, he was also "moonlighting" as medical student and the nickname stuck." http://www.sabr.org/sabr.cfm?a=cms,c,301,34,0 I can't say either explanation convinces me. - Randy 22:31, 5 September 2007 (EDT)
