Talk:Mike Macha
From BR Bullpen
I don't think Mike and Ken Macha are brothers. Ken Macha's biogrpahies in old Expos' media guides never mention a brother, although they highlight his kinship to Hal Newhouser. Plus, they're from different part of the country, Mike from Texas and Ken from Pennsylvania.--Philippe 10:46, 19 Mar 2006 (EST)
Total Baseball (fourth edition) lists them both with the "F" notation for Baseball family --Just me 10:52, 19 Mar 2006 (EST)
Ken Macha's official bio on MLB.com [1] does not list brotherhood either. I am convinced someone at Total Baseball, who does not know that Macha is a common Czech last name, simply assumed that the two contemporary Machas were brothers. --Philippe 11:19, 19 Mar 2006 (EST)
Check out the Baseball Library page, which is where I got that information. --Alexsautographs 14:15, 19 Mar 2006 (EST)
The 1982 Register lists no comment about Mike in Ken Macha's article. The Register lists relatives who spent one year in the low minors. I'm thinking they're not brothers. --Jeff 00:39, 9 June 2007 (EDT)
Not only does the 1981 Register not mention them as brothers, it lists different pronunciations for their names. Ken as "MOCK-uh" and Mike as "MAH-ha". --Jeff 22:58, 17 November 2007 (EST)
The main BR page no longer lists them as brothers. - --Mischa 19:32, 18 November 2007 (EST)
