Wasn't there a prospect who had to go back to A-ball because of Jordan?

--

Not that I can tell. It wasn't as if Birmingham was loaded with other OF prospects - Kevin Coughlin hit .257 with no triples, no homers and a sub-.500 steal success rate and Randy Hood hit .222 with 1 home run in regular time. Scott Tedder lost some playing time, but still played in 86 games and was short-changed much of his career; as a no-power OBP-focused OF, he didn't have much of a chance at MLB success anyway. Kerry Valrie was the 3rd main OF alongside Coughlin and Jordan - he did okay, .286 with 27 doubles, 29 steals in 39 tries and 8 outfield assists.

At high class A, the main OF were Mike Cameron (just 21 and only hitting .248), Carmine Cappuccio (24-year old; OK stats but old for his level) and Charles Poe (OK numbers as well). Only Poe was repeating at the level, and he hadn't exactly lit up the FSL in '93.

Didn't you know that Kevin Coughlin was the Southern League Batting Champ the next year?
