How should Mexican teams (and possibly by extension other Latin American teams) be listed?

Ordering, at Chihuahua, Chihuahua:

   * Dorados de Chihuahua, Mexican League (1940)
   * Chihuahua Dorados, Arizona-Texas League (1952)
   * Chihuahua Dorados, Central Mexican League (1956-1957)
   * Chihuahua Dorados, Arizona-Mexico League (1958)

Translating at Mexicali, Baja California:

   * Mexicali Aguilas, Sunset League (1948-1949)
   * Mexicali Eagles, Sunset League (1950)
   * Mexicali Eagles, Southwest International League (1951-1952)
   * Mexicali Eagles, Arizona-Texas League (1953-1954)
   * Mexicali Eagles, Arizona-Mexico League (1955-1957)
   * Mexicali Aguilas, Arizona-Mexico League (1958)
   * Mexicali Aguilas, Mexican Northern League (1968-1969)

Wouldn't in both instances one of these be a redirect of the other?

Here, for Mexican League it seems that the teams are left in their original Spanish. Should these be extended to all Mexican teams, to all Latin American teams, to Latin American teams playing in international leagues (Arizona-Mexico League)? --MichaelEng 22:33, 29 May 2006 (EDT)

When I listed the teams a few months ago, my policy was to use the Spanish name for Mexican league teams, and the English name for all US-based leagues (such as Arizona-Mexico). In some cases, a Spanish nickname (Mexicali Aguilas) is listed in the English data bases (Mike McCann's eg) and I used it, but in the English order (city-name) and not in the Spanish order (name de city).--Philippe 11:45, 30 May 2006 (EDT)

So in those specific cases, Spanish nickname in English databases, should the names be changed to their Englsih equivalents? --MichaelEng 00:09, 1 Jun 2006 (EDT)

And while we're on the subject, why are we so careful to identify the states of the U.S. and the provinces of Canada but ignore the 31 Mexican States? --Ron 04:07, 1 Jun 2006 (EDT)

A lot of the Mexican states are identified - ex. Campeche, Campeche or Villahermosa, Tabasco. When the BR Bullpen was created, there was a hodgepodge of state and non-state listings for Mexico and we've been converting everything to city, state. If there are some that are not properly listed still, feel free to move the pages appropriately. - --Mischa 09:03, 1 Jun 2006 (EDT)

New category for Mexican League

In line with the separate categories for the American Association, or better yet the placing of the Canadian Baseball League teams outside of the minors teams, should the Mexican League have its own category (and subcategories) under Category:Leagues and Category:Minors. A reasoning for this would be while the Mexican League is part of the Minor League Baseball it is not a minor league as its teams are unaffiliated with MLB clubs, it conducts its own draft, has its own farms system and a conducts its business as an independent entity under the NAPBL banner. --MichaelEng (talk) 11:30, 28 March 2007 (EDT)

I think the Mexican League clearly belongs in the Minor League category. It's part of Organized Baseball and all its records are counted into the minor league records. This is a far cry from the CBL, which was entirely independent. The American Association categories are for the major league AA, not the minor league one, unless someone has added some things which don't belong. Also, while the LMB teams are presently unaffiliated, some have been in the past and many other minor league teams in the past were also unaffiliated. It would just be more unnecessary categories I think. - --Mischa 12:10, 28 March 2007 (EDT)

The function of a minors sub-cat would so that one could see that the player was part of the Mexican League and then using their own discretion determine whether the player played in Organized Baseball or not. A description on the category page would help by stating that before X the league operated outside of the NAPBL and that in x it joined the NAPBL, etc. --MichaelEng (talk) 09:45, 30 April 2007 (EDT)

I could see the point for Mexican League players from pre-1955?1956? (can't recall the date off-hand) but for current players and teams, it belongs 100% in the minor league category. - --Mischa 13:01, 30 April 2007 (EDT)

Chart formatting got messed up when I updated managers. Can someone fix it? - --Mischa 10:35, 17 March 2011 (EDT)

I find it very odd in how different Mexican and American or Japanese teams treat their managers. In Mexico, most teams seem to change managers at least once a year, while managers often guide 5+ teams during the course of their careers. In the US or Japan, a manager usually gets a few years at the helm before being fired, but rarely makes more than one or two stops during his career. Then again, Mexican League players jump around a lot more than NPB players. - --Mischa 09:22, 22 April 2011 (EDT)
