By trading Kotchmann, the Angels must either believe that they can resign Teixeira, or they think Kendry Morales is ready to step in. Jeff 01:48, 30 July 2008 (EDT)
Or are doing everything to make a run at the World Series this year. --Philippe 10:35, 30 July 2008 (EDT)
Absolutely, they're making a run at it, that's Reagins showing he's not Stoneman. As an Angel fan, part of me loves the trade, but part of me wonders if they're losing the long range plan. Kotchmann was supposed to be the long range answer. There are now some rumors that Kotch and Sciscia didn't really get along, so maybe there's more than meets the eye on this one. --Jeff 23:30, 30 July 2008 (EDT)
I'm not sure that Texeira "was a sensation for the 2008 Angels in roughly the way that Manny Ramirez was a sensation for the 2008 Dodgers". The Angels were at .623 (66-40) when the got Texeira and played .607 ball the rest of the way. The Dodgers played better after they got Manny. --Jeff 23:31, 31 March 2009 (EDT)
When I think of major trade acquisitions of 2008, I think Manny and Sabathia, not Teixeira. - --126.96.36.199 11:38, 1 April 2009 (EDT)
Teixera was one of the major acquisitions of the year. The Angels just didn't get a big boost from the pick-up, as the Dodgers did. They had hoped it would power in the playoffs, and it didn't do that either. --Jeff 12:48, 1 April 2009 (EDT)
