The article says "Houk later received intense criticsm for possibly causing and/or adding to these arm troubles, by allowing the 21-year-old rookie to pitch so many innings, often on only three days rest. This was an especially galling waste of future potential when it's taken into account that the 1976 Tigers were a team that was nowhere near playoff contention". It seems likely to me that he was pushed because the 76 Tigers weren't in contention and the management group needed to sell tickets. I don't know what additional attendance he created, but maybe it wasn't Houk's call? Jeff 17:10, 7 September 2008 (EDT)
