I met Mark DeJohn last night - 6/20/06. He is the manager of the brand spanking new Cardinal single-A franchise, the State College Spikes in Happy Valley, Pennsylvania. The Spikes first game was a loss to the Williamsport Crosscutters (Pirates).

Fifty-four-hundered-seat Medlar Field, where the Spikes play their home games is in the shadow - literally - of Beaver Stadium where the Nittany Lions and Joe Paterno play that other game in the fall.

Prior to the game, DeJohn and his batting coach Steve Balboni, entertained the invited V.I.P.s with some cute and self-depricating baseball banter.
