Was a 10+ career so odd in the 20s and 30s? Almost every Pirate of the era lasted that long - Suhr, Traynor, Vaughan, Waner, Waner, Kremer, French, Earl Smith, Comorosky, etc. I'd remove the argument that it was atypical of the time period. ---Mischa 11:42, 18 August 2006 (EDT)

OK, I'll go along with removing the reference. I don't really know what fans of the time thought about Lloyd. However, your references to Suhr, Kremer, and Comorosky tend to support my thesis because they barely got around 10 seasons (some of which were partial seasons) while Lloyd had 14 seasons just with Paul, not counting his other seasons - and citing the longer careers of Hall of Famers Traynor and Vaughan simply supports the image of a Hall of Famer as someone who plays a long career. Still, I'm bending over backwards to present a favorable picture of Lloyd to balance out the unfavorable one that sabermetricians present, in the interests of being "neutral", and I'm undoubtedly bending over way too far. - Randy 11:55 18 August 2006 (EDT)
