Talk:Laredo, TX
From BR Bullpen
While the Nuevo Laredo Owls played some games in Texas from 1985 on, they were only formally known as Dos laredos from 2001 to 2003.--Philippe 08:40, 6 Jan 2006 (EST)
A Baseball America Almanac/Statistics Report from 1990 lists them as Los Dos Laredos and states that the name was used since 1985. I'm at work so don't have the exact reference handy. I'm pretty sure that Cisneros's Mexican League encyclopedia also uses the name pre-2000 - --Mischa 10:11, 6 Jan 2006 (EST)
On the other hand, the Sporting News Baseball Guides list them as Nuevo Laredo until 2001. Who is right ? Beats me. --Philippe 10:57, 6 Jan 2006 (EST)
I checked the Cisneros book when I got home. It uses "Nuevo Laredo" in the player stats section but in the champions list it says "Dos Laredos" and lists the team's city as "Laredo, Tex" and "Laredo, Mex". So it seems that Nuevo Laredo might have been used interchangeably with Los Dos Laredos from 1985 onwards. I think it would be safe to use that name and list them under Larexo, TX too from 1985-2000 -- --Mischa 15:48, 6 Jan 2006 (EST)
