Talk:Kinston Expos
From BR Bullpen
Although Greg Biagini who played with the Kinston Expos did not make it to the major leagues as a player, he did make it to the Major Leagues as a hitting and and bench coach for Johnny Oates from 1992-1994. Greg also spent four seasons with the Mexican League after leaving baseball in the US and won the hitting title there as well as being on the team that won the Mexican League World Series. Greg also was offered a contract with a Japan team but decided to come out of Mexico and take a manager job with the Baltimore Orioles.
In his time as a minor league manager, he also won two AAA championships and came within one game of winning a third. Only one manager has won three in the history of AAA baseball.
Greg died of kidney cancer at the young age of 51.
In conclusion, although Greg did not go to the majors as a player, he did go to the AAA level and proved himself as a prospect after he left Kinston and he did make it to the major leagues as a very successful hitting coach.
