[edit] birthdate

Riley lists his birthdate as 10/26, not 10/20. - --Mischa 10:26, 4 Jun 2006 (EDT)

[edit] Major league coach

Can anyone confirm when Judy Johnson was a coach in the major leagues. The information I could find was far from definitive, and I have a sense the original article from Wikipedia may have got this fact wrong. --Philippe 10:12, 15 August 2009 (EDT)

Johnson was signed as a scout for the Philadelphia A's in 1951, and in 1954 was promoted to coach. He was specifically a spring training coach as the A's were integrating at the major league level. There is no indication that he was considered a coach during the regular season, nor any indication that he remained a scout for the A's when they moved to Kansas City.
I'm going to upload two news articles from February 1954 (Chicago DEFENDER and L.A. SENTINEL) that cover Johnson's promotion.

I don't think he gets the coach category if he did not hold the role in the regular season. My copy of Total Baseball doesn't list him in their coaches roster. - --Mischa 11:11, 16 August 2009 (EDT)

The 1990 Guide lists DOD as June 14. --Jeff 00:20, 28 October 2010 (EDT)
