I thought the pennant goes to the team that wins the playoffs? Does anyone know for sure? - --Mischa 09:12, 12 October 2006 (EDT)

Pennant has lost its meaning. Before 1969, it was the team that won its league (major leagues that it is). Then from 1969 to 1993, the pennant winner was the playoff winner between the two divisions. Now? The Angels won the World Series in 2002, but they were the wild-card. Did they actually ever win a "pennant"? --Just me 09:59, 12 October 2006 (EDT)

Another reason playoffs are a stupid idea. It's a shame that the Central League, one of the last bastions of true baseball, is adding playoffs to milk more money out of fans. It's even worse since we got to see the joy and excitement of a true pennant race this year in the CL - all that will be gone next year. - --Mischa 10:18, 12 October 2006 (EDT)
