"May have been", "most likely"? Awful iffy bio, isn't it? -Chisoxfan 01:14, 17 September 2006 (EDT)

I found references that were pretty wishy-washy. What else can you do when the reference hints at something but doesn't say it outright? I suppose I could quote the reference itself, in all its lack of clarity. I wasn't able to track down more clarity. That may have to wait till Mischa comes by with his awesome library. - Randy 1:35 17 September 2006 (EDT)

What sources are these from? I'd personally say if references are wishy-washy, I wouldn't necessarily rely on that source. -Chisoxfan 01:40, 17 September 2006 (EDT)

I changed the text. I agree with you, but on the other hand, if there is a chance someone was a two-way player, or if he might have been in the service, it seems useful to somehow alert others to that possibility in case they have access to better sources. - Randy 1:56 17 September 2006 (EDT)

If I were you, I'd be careful what sources you're using. Are these websites, books, articles? Personally, if something is sketchy to me, I just omit it. I figure, after all, everything here is a work in progress, so it is implied that if anyone has anything to add, they should add it. -Chisoxfan 02:02, 17 September 2006 (EDT)

Well, but this isn't a prominent player like Pujols or A-Rod, where someone certainly knows the answer and will likely come along to add it. With an obscure player, if I don't alert people to possibilities that exist, no one is ever likely to research it. I'd rather pass on the possibility contained in the sources rather than have it lost. Did you ever read Barbara Tuchman's masterpiece about the 14th century called A Distant Mirror? When you're talking about resurrecting the dim past, you have to put up with uncertainties. If you mention them, then perhaps some scholar in the future will uncover something that you couldn't. - Randy 2:10 17 September 2006 (EDT)

Its always an option to put facts in the article and ask about wishy-washy sources in the discussion page. --Just me 23:45, 17 September 2006 (EDT)

In reference to Randy's comment, if we put up something questionable, it may spread to other sources. I'd strongly encourage only using verifiable and reliable sources. - --Mischa 07:43, 18 September 2006 (EDT)
