The obituary says he was a catcher before WWII, was wounded twice during the war, ended his playing career, and got his degree from Vanderbilt in 1945. --Jeff 13:36, 5 December 2008 (EST)

The Doyle DB lists him as playing in 1947 for Bisbee, which had been my source. I don't have a 1948 Guide to check. - --Mischa 20:28, 6 December 2008 (EST)

SABR has that also, I assumed it was a different guy, but its quite possible the obit was wrong about the war ending his career. Its also quite possible that he was the GM for that team and ran out of catchers. --Jeff 21:41, 6 December 2008 (EST)
