Talk:Hideki Matsui
From BR Bullpen
Moved from article:
Since coming to the MLB, he has become one of the best all around players in the league although he hasn't hit with as much power. He is one of the best clutch hitters in baseball and can hit balls that seem impossible to hit. He can draw walks and can hit lefties and righties equally as well. He can play all three outfield positions though he says he is most comfortable in center. He doesn't have the speed and range to play center though. His arm is also a bit below average making left field the best fit for him. However he has played center on occasion without too much trouble. He can make the occasional Web Gem.
Matsui is an very good ballplayer, and his 2005 offseason contract with the Yankees proves they want him for future years. Matsui played 1250 consecutive games, and his first 519 consecutive games in the major leagues (US) for a total of 1719 consecutive games. Is that so tough to figure? --149.4.108.108 10:07, 3 July 2007 (EDT)
If the page is protected, why can Liebman still get to it?
As to why Liebman is wrong, Matsui's injury was in the top of the first in his 519th game. MLB rules do not credit a player with a game played unless they play half an inning in the field or bat once for the purposes of consecutive game streaks and SABR seconds this ruling. According to all official record sources then, Matsui had 518 consecutive games in the USA, not 519, no matter how many times he claims otherwise at Wikipedia, here and elsewhere. - --Mischa 19:04, 17 July 2007 (EDT)
So not only is Liebman claiming all knowledge of birth records, his rules now supercede MLB rules. --Jeff 19:13, 17 July 2007 (EDT)
