Herbert Frank Goodall, or "Goody," as he was called by his friends, was my grandfather. He was actually born on a farm on Mansfield Road, Canoe Camp, in Tioga COunty, PA, USA on 3/10/1867. He died on 1/20/38 in Mansfield, PA of a stroke, and is buried in Prospect Cemetery, Mansfield, PA

Herb played baseball with Elmira, NY club at age 19; at age 21, he was traded to Louisville & helped them win the pennant that year. However, he left baseball due to effects of typhoid fever contracted while playing baseball abroad.

After he left baseball, he owned and operated the Canoe Camp Grist Mill and lived at 21 Elmira Street, Mansfield, PA.

He completed only 8 grades in a country elementary school, but served on the Board of Directors of Mansfield State Teachers College, then a normal school; now, part of the state university system.

He was married to Caroline Cally Youmans (1874 – 1949.

Hi parents were Thomas R. Goodall & Celia R. Spencer Goodall. Thomas Goodall came from England when a small boy, 1831
