Does any have access to a source of McGalliard's minor league stats? --MichaelEng 21:24, 19 Mar 2006 (EST)

I'm not sure what to make of the recent round of changes. If anyone wants to confirm or deny them, go ahead. --Jeff 16:36, 2 June 2007 (EDT)

Hi, I've done extensive research on Andrew Harris McGalliard and the changes that I've made are correct. Ralph rguy@prodigy.net 16:47, 2 June 2007 (PST)

Well, changing the name of image files isn't correct. --Jeff 19:51, 2 June 2007 (EDT)

I apologize. Ralph 18:53, 2 June 2007 (PST)

Also, we go by "baseball names" generally. The person's real name (ex. George Herman Ruth) is listed on his page but links should point to Babe Ruth. McGalliard was known to baseball as either Harrison McGalliard or Bucky Harris, so Andrew Harris only belongs on his page. Thanks for the contributions, Ralph. - --Mischa 18:53, 3 June 2007 (EDT)

Thanks Mischa. I might suggest Bucky Harris McGalliard then, to avoid confusion with the more famous Bucky Harris. Andrew Harris McGalliard was never known as Harrison McGalliard. Ralph 21:52, 3 June 2007 (PST)

Though now that I think about it, I'm sure that he was probably called "Bucky Harris-san" by many Japanese, though as you probably know, "san" is like saying "Mr." and is not part of the person's name. Maybe that's the reason for the confusion. Ralph 22:02, 3 June 2007 (PST)

I don't see any record of McGalliard in the minors. Are we sure about this info? I see a Tony McGalliard in 1968. - --Mischa 16:55, 15 June 2007 (EDT)

I don't believe that he played in the minors. I would need to review my interview with his daughter, but I believe that he played on an amateur league team (a merchant team) before joining the L.A. Nippons. Ralph 17:01, 16 June 2007 (PST)

I'll remove the minor league category for now then. - --Mischa 08:34, 18 June 2007 (EDT)

I had a chance to quickly review interviews with his daughter and nephew, as well as newspaper articles and articles and interviews that I've had translated from Japanese. According to a translated interview, McGalliard played for the PCL for two years in Sacramento (his daughter believes that this was the late 1920's). He then joined the L.A. Nippons in 1930 (toured Japan with the team in 1931). After this, he joined the Western League, playing in Wichita, Kansas, returning to the L.A. Nippons by 1935. His daughter said that he didn't attend college. Ralph 01:26, 29 June 2007

Further research shows that McGalliard played on the Sacramento Senators in 1928 and 1929, with the Wichita Aviators in 1930, and with the L.A. Nippons from 1931-1937, though of course he played mostly in Japan for 1936-38 (stats available on this site). In a more recent conversation with McGalliard's daughter, she explained that he took some night classes, but was never a regular student at USC, in fact his military records show that he didn't graduate from high school.
