Talk:Ground rule double
From BR Bullpen
IF A FAIR BALL BOUNCES AND HIT THE FOUL POLE AND COMES BACK INTO PLAY. IS IT A GROUND RULE DOUBLE. AND IF NOT, THEN IF A FLY BALL HITS THE FOUL POLE, WHY IS IS A HOME RUN IF IT COMES BACK INTO PLAY.
THANKS
The Foul pole is considered to be out of play. Therefore a ball that bounces over the fence and hits the pole is dead and the batter is credited with an automatic double. The ball is only in play if it bounces off an obstacle that is itself in play. --Philippe 11:59, 5 July 2007 (EDT)
