Talk:Glenn Hubbard

Here I am a grown man struggling just a little bit with the banalaties and pressures of everyday life. Sometimes when I am in one of these sorts of moods my thoughts drift to more care free days. And tonight they have drifted to the 1982 Braves and the players on that team... Benedict, Chambliss, Hubbard, Ramirez, Horner, Washington, Murphy, and whoever it was that played left field (Whissington?, T. Harper?). That Hubbard could turn a double play. But right now I am thinking of the night he hit a two-run homer (I think it was a two runs) to win a game in extra innings late at night against the Padres 8-6. An obscure moment in baseball to be sure. But to a recently graduated 8th grader who had become a Braves fan that summer because, well, they were pretty good (13-0 to start the season!) and their games were on just about every night on TBS (it's really as simple as that) - it made enough of an impression that I still remember it 24 years later! Good God Almighty, I lived and died with the Braves that summer. I imagine recollection of Glenn Hubbard baseball moments are not the most common occurence, but that particular one sent me to bed in a very good mood. And maybe that's why I remember it. Hubbard was a decent player who had his moments, and I think it is pretty cool that I still remember that particular one.
