John Ryan is listed as a 4 decade player, but both John Ryans played only in 1884. Anybody know the story? --Just me 23:13, 18 Apr 2006 (EDT)

This list doesn't define who's on it. Major leaguers are clear. Apparently there are also Japanese players who are the equivalent of major leaguers. But there are oodles of people who played four decades of professional ball, counting major and minor leagues together - do they qualify? And what if you played in four decades around the world - as Julio Franco did, playing in the minors, majors, Mexico and Asia?
