Talk:Fernando Valenzuela
From BR Bullpen
In 1992, did he throw the two-hitter for Jalisco, or against Jalisco? --Just me 00:13, 25 December 2006 (EST)
He only pitched for Jalisco that year, so the two-hitter must have been agaisnt someone else. I've changed the sentence. --Philippe 03:50, 25 December 2006 (EST)
Valenzuela was one of the best Major league Baseball players to come from mexico. He won many awards in his lif time from the MLB.
[edit] Best instincts I ever saw
Living in L.A. from '81 to '86, I saw a lot of Fernando on TV; he always threw to the right base, and often nailed runners by an eyelash because his timing was so impeccable, he knew when he could get a lead runner, when most players wouldn't take that chance. If he needed to bunt, even hit and run, hit a sac fly--he would usually come through. And I was a Dodger hater--a Padre fan, born and raised to hate L.A.--so this isn't some home team bias talking. I've watched for that same uncanny sixth sense in players ever since, and can't say I've seen it; though I don't watch nearly as much ball as I used to.
